Blokes Cinema Evening - Page 58(Our club's Fiftyeighth meeting since chartered)
The Cinema visit was successful, I am not sure you should call the film (cert 15) entertaining; it was very disturbing, harrowing and violent!!!
Some ten ABC members, including one members wife, who was celebrating her birthday that night, watched the film; 12 nights a slave.
We could not take our usual photographs so here are some stills from the film and the original flyer.

In the pre-Civil War United States, Solomon Northup, a free black man from upstate New York, is abducted and sold into slavery.
Facing cruelty at the hands of a malevolent slave owner, as well as unexpected kindnesses, Solomon struggles not only to stay alive, but to retain his dignity.
In the twelfth year of his unforgettable odyssey, Solomon's chance meeting with a Canadian abolitionist will forever alter his life.
